London Wine Week 2017

We’re continuing our #BondSummer with our first #WhereToEatWednesday and we’re joining in with the festivities of London’s Wine Week, by giving you some of the grape-st events you should definitely attend.

The Gherkin

We kick off with the Sip and Snack offering from high in the sky garden in The Gherkin. A selection of 2015 Menetou-Salon Blanc, Domaine de l’Ermitage, Loire, France Or 2015 Syrah/Grenache, Rita, Habla, Cotes de Provence, France Or 2013 Villalobos Carignan Reserva, The Wild Vineyard, Chile accompanied with curated meats or artisan cheese. Their restaurant also invites you to their six-course tasting menu, where a selection of special wines is poured at 100ml each to compliment each dish. Their resident sommelier team will happily recommend wines based on their origins of the wines, their characteristics and grape varieties, as well as suitability with the dishes.

Devonshire Square

The hub of this year’s festival, you can stroll around London whilst some of the finest and exotic wines in your hand. Devonshire Square will be teaming with pop-up wine bars in and around the Liverpool Street area. If you purchase a festival pass you get exclusive offers from some of the best wine bars in the city, access to four bespoke, international pop-ups around the area. Even outside of there, bars like New Street Wine Shop and Bedales of Borough amongst other will offer three different wines for just £5 and like the Gherkin will be offering a smattering of Sip and Snack offerings.

The Wine Edit

The Oval Space near Hoxton and Bethnal Green will turn into a huge vineyard because when there’s a vine there’s wine right? This all day event is constantly buzzing across its four-day life, from Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, meaning you can arrive for some light after-work drinks, use it to tip your hat to the weekend or make it the highlight of your weekend. As much as the event is about wine, it’s worth mentioning the mouthwatering dishes that’ll be on offer, such as pastries, fresh fruits, coconut soy mushrooms, miso aubergines, baked eggs, smoked haddock and crisp halloumi.

We’re not even halfway through the week of wine but there’s been plenty of events to it fresh and as it continues, there’s sure to be some hidden gems popping up so stay tuned!
